Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are present in our environment. Dioxins, furans and the so called “dioxin like” polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are the most toxic compounds within this group. The presence of POPs, even at low concentration levels, is identified as a global problem for humans and the environment.
