How wonderful science is!

The Mille e una Scienza Festival 2025 | From the immensely small to the immensely large

The 2025 edition of the festival “Le Mille e una Scienza” has once again concluded with great success, recording a significant increase in attendance compared to the previous year. This year’s programme was enriched with new events, such as the “Road to Festival” series hosted at the Nuova Libreria Cappelli, the “Science Day”, and the “Science Live” initiative organised at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. As in past editions, Castel Mareccio provided the perfect setting for workshops, scientific stands, and performances that animated the science weekend from 14 to 16 November.

Eco Research enthusiastically participated again this year, presenting a stand entirely dedicated to chemistry and its wonders. Guided by the Eco Research team, children – together with their parents – had the opportunity to experience the role of a chemist through three hands-on experiments:

  • Tasty spheres: the science of bubble tea, to discover how two liquids can create gelatinous spheres;
  • Chemistry that lights up, featuring a live luminescent reaction;
  • When chemistry changes colour, exploring compounds that respond to pH variations.

Not only hands-on activities to try on site, but also additional ideas for simple experiments to carry out independently, thanks to our “A tutta chimica!” brochure.

The commitment required to prepare these activities was rewarded by the enthusiasm of visitors, contributing to the overall success of the festival. A heartfelt thank-you goes to the festival organisers – ArciRagazzi Bolzano, the Accatagliato association, and the entire supporting team. The festival is made possible thanks to the support of the Department of Italian Culture and the Youth Policies Office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in collaboration with the Office for Scientific Research, the STEAM project of the Italian School Board, and the Office for Early Childhood Education. We also thank the Municipality of Bolzano for granting its patronage.

Now a short break… and then preparations will soon begin for the next edition, dedicated to the theme “A Planet to Save”.
